I like to envision it as “auditioning for a theatrical production.” Prior to our incarnation, we can select to be a part of a comedy, a drama, an action piece, a horror film, an epic journey, or even a mixture of these genres. We also have the option to assume a leading role, serve as a supporting character, or even play a cameo or background part.
What role are we willing and prepared to embrace? This, in itself, can be a significant karmic challenge as well as a profound educational experience. For instance, if we have accepted a role that resulted in grief or suffering in a past life, we will return in this lifetime to attempt to rectify these unresolved karmic matters. If we succeed, it is fantastic because we can then explore an entirely different role or circumstances in a future existence.
Soul groups are composed of a circle of souls with whom we have shared past lives and are likely to encounter in future lifetimes. These groups form our spiritual families, with each member taking on different roles in one another’s lives throughout the process of soul evolution. We continuously shift roles in various lifetimes with other souls in our group to promote learning and personal growth.
