We all encounter individuals who enter and exit our lives, often with the perfect words or actions at precisely the right time. People come into our lives for various reasons—some for a moment, a season, or for a lifetime. These extraordinary messengers and guides might choose to remain in our lives or depart just as swiftly as they arrived.

I’ve experienced several moments with such earth angels. When I consider the term ‘earth angels,’ one individual stands out: my mother. She imparted many teachings that have significantly benefitted my life. Most notably, she embodied the fruits of the spirit, demonstrating love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control through her actions.

Children don’t follow what adults say… they emulate what we do. Parents who serve as excellent role models and are genuinely engaged in their children’s lives nurture compassionate adults, who subsequently bestow the same principles to their offspring. I was fortunate to have a mother who was actively present during my upbringing. She instilled in me the importance of kindness and courtesy towards all individuals; respecting the elderly; and maintaining a smile and positive demeanor, as we attract the energy we project into the world.

My mother also ensured we gathered at the table for every meal until we became young adults. My husband once pointed out that whenever my mother calls us, she always inquires about everyone, not just me. She exhibits great support and genuine interest in how others are faring. I know many individuals like her who would approach you, embrace you, and ask how you’re doing.

My mother possesses a unique charisma, a genuine essence of caring, and compassionate energy. Our conversations flow seamlessly, always concluding with “I love you” as we say farewell or before hanging up.

When I initially met my husband, vocalizing his emotions was a challenge for him. Simply stating “I love you” felt foreign and uncomfortable, as he described it. He wasn’t accustomed to expressing such sentiments. Well, he found himself married to an Italian, and we certainly don’t shy away from affection! Today, he willingly declares his love and does so frequently.

This openness has also extended to my clients. I have guided them to recognize that they deserve affirmations of love and shared methods to encourage their partners to feel more relaxed about expressing their emotions.

Life offers no certainties, and if you don’t voice “I love you” to those who matter most, you might miss the chance to do so ever again. Just as the soothing sound of a cat’s purr alleviates stress, expressing love nurtures the heart. Therefore, relish these invaluable expressions that benefit you.
